Credit & Academic Regulations

A select faculty and proper academic rigor sustain College Year in Athens' reputation among North American colleges and universities. The Program issues its own transcripts, and on their basis the student's home institution grants credit.

Students are responsible for arranging academic credit with their colleges or universities and must have the Statement of Study Abroad Approval/Credit Transfer form completed by the study abroad advisor or dean. Most colleges and universities accept College Year in Athens courses for transfer credit; students whose home institutions do not grant credit on the basis of the College Year in Athens transcript should contact the CYA North American Office (617/868-8200; info@cyathens.org) to discuss available alternatives.

Students at member institutions of the Associated Colleges of the South should apply through Southwestern University.

In all cases, students must be alert to the special academic requirements of their home institutions. At the end of each semester, an official transcript is sent to each student's home institution, and an unofficial copy is sent to the student's home address.
