Based on your experience with CYA, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester or summer abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?

Some benefits of spending time abroad are learning independence, finding out more about your interests.

What advice do you have for prospective students who are interested in or planning to study abroad with CYA?

Some advice I would give is to try to journal everything it gets so busy its hard to remember everything you do. Also if there is any food from home that you love make sure you learn how to make it or bring spices/snacks/etc. from home for when you get homesick.

How was the political climate in Greece different from what are you used to? If applicable, describe a time when you had to navigate a political conversation during your time abroad.

The political climate was different in the sense that the political system is different here so issues are handled differently and though there are a lot of protests, there is not as much of a big show as ones in America. We have had chances to talk to locals about what they're protesting about and they are often very polite and patient and will tell us a lot about it.

Please select any of the following that apply to you, and that you would be willing to share about your CYA experience with other students:

LGBTQ student, Accessibility services, Finances while abroad, Religion while abroad, Mental health while abroad

Briefly describe a cultural experience you had that was significant to you in any way.

My mythology class went to see "Prometheus Bound" at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. Greek literature is something I grew up reading and to see a Greek play in a real Greek theater was just fantastic, plus we got to meet the director and the actor who played Prometheus.

Favorite food in Greece?

There were a lot of great places! I loved having lamb on Anogeia cooked in the traditional antikristo method. Also it's always great to sit outside at a cafe reading with a nice coffee, the coffee and the ambiance makes it a great experience!

Favorite class you took at CYA?

I loved all my classes at CYA! My favorite might be Sociology of Dissent, it was so interesting that I decided to take another sociology class at my home institution next semester!

Favorite quote from abroad?

This isn't technically from abroad but my mom always told me "when you're traveling you have to be flexible" and I took that with me, my goal being to make the best out of any situation!
