Based on your experience with CYA, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester or summer abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?

The main benefit of spending a semester abroad is cultural immersion. Participating in CYA puts you right in the middle of Greek culture through language, food, and couple other amazing experiences including the field studies! Another benefit is the bonds and connections you create in your time abroad with people from all over the world. Studying abroad and having these experiences has helped me to grow confident in who I am and how I will handle challenges that come my way in the future.

What advice do you have for prospective students who are interested in or planning to study abroad with CYA?

One piece of advice I would give to future CYA students is to be completely open-minded. My experience abroad was so special because I did not have preconceived notions about what it would be like. I went in with a basic understanding of what I was looking to get out of my time abroad and let the rest develop naturally over time. This, in my opinion, is the best way to learn and have an authentic experience. Another piece of advice I would give is to cherish every moment you are abroad because it flies by!
