Dr. S. Zachaki is a post-doctoral researcher with extensive experience in the investigation of multi-factorial diseases. She has BSc. in Biological Applications and Technologies, MSc. in Molecular Medicine with specialization in Molecular Diagnostics and PhD in Human Genetics from Medical School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Greece. She has also been trained for RNA isolation and quantification of miRNA expression at Institute of Prevention and Occupational Medicine (IPA), Bergmannsheil Ruhr University Hospital, Bochum, Germany.

She has an extensive experience in the fields of conventional and molecular cytogenetics and in molecular and cell Biology and their applications to human diseases, particularly in cancer, gynecological, neurological and nutritional diseases. She has also collaborated with the Dental School of NKUA for molecular detection of microbes in endodontic patients. Her research area includes characterization of reliable biomarkers for early diagnosis and genotype-phenotype correlations in various diseases. She has excellent skills in a variety of laboratory techniques including PCR, real-time PCR, qPCR, MSP, sequencing, human cell culturing, conventional and molecular cytogenetics.

She has written 34 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, 28 in international and 6 in Greek ones and 2 submitted manuscripts for publication. She has been presented her research work at 63 international and 47 Greek meetings and she co-authored 4 books. She has received 9 awards for her scientific presentations (poster or oral) in international and national conference, and she has given 16 invited talks.
