Studying abroad with CYA has been a transformative experience, offering the opportunity to immerse myself in Greek culture, history, and daily life. It has strengthened my independence, adaptability, and cross-cultural understanding while expanding my academic perspective by learning directly from Greece’s rich heritage. Professionally, this experience has enhanced my global awareness and communication skills, which are invaluable in today’s interconnected world.

What advice do you have for prospective students who are interested in or planning to study abroad with CYA?

For prospective students planning to study abroad with CYA, my advice is to take the time to truly get to know the country you’ll be living in. Immerse yourself in the culture, learn about its history, try the local food, and pick up some basic phrases in the language—it makes a huge difference in connecting with the community. Many students get caught up in traveling all over Europe and miss the chance to fully experience the country they’re in. Before starting my study abroad experience, I wish I had known how valuable it is to focus on exploring the local culture and embracing the everyday life of locals. These moments create the most meaningful and unique memories.

please select any of the following that apply to you, and that you would be willing to share about your CYA experience with other students:

Accessibility, Dietary restrictions, Finances, Greece-based traveler, Mental health, Post-graduate networking

Briefly describe a cultural experience you had that was significant to you in any way.

During my study abroad experience, I encountered a cultural difference that initially surprised me but ultimately enriched my understanding of local customs. As I spent more time interacting with locals, I came to appreciate this communication style as a reflection of the people's warmth and enthusiasm. Embracing this aspect of the culture allowed me to connect more deeply with those around me, turning an initial moment of culture shock into a meaningful and positive experience.
