Based on your experience with CYA, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester or summer abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?
My semester at CYA has been my best semester of college, an experience that I will never forget. The pandemic significantly took a toll on my college experience and hindered my ability to make meaningful social connections at my home institution, but my semester at CYA has provided me with such amazing opportunities and friendships that I will hold onto forever. Not only have I developed a newfound appreciation for Greece and Greek culture, but I have learned so much about my strengths as an individual as I navigated my way through new experiences. Because I came into the program alone, never having been to Greece, I became more independent and confident, knowing my capabilities of overcoming the inevitable challenges that accompany studying abroad in a new place. Not only did I grow as a person, but I gained more knowledge academically as I took new classes and met professors who deeply cared about me and my classmates’ success inside and outside the classroom. Because I am a biopsychology major, I was never exposed to classical and humanities studies, but I have greatly enjoyed taking new classes and participating in hands-on field study trips. This semester has truly been one of the best experiences of my life, and I am so grateful to have had this opportunity to grow on both a personal and academic level.
