As somebody who studies international relations, this program was amazing for my academic journey. I got to learn so much more about other cultures completely different from my own and I feel like it has made me more understanding when it comes to learning about other parts of the world.

What advice do you have for prospective students who are interested in or planning to study abroad with CYA?

I was very scared when before I studied abroad, but it is just like ripping a bandage off, you just got to do it. The more you worry about it the more you will overthink and freak yourself out, while it is good to know a lot and worry also take it easy cause eventually everything will work out. Remember hundreds of students have been in your shoes before.

How was the political climate in Greece different from what are you used to? If applicable, describe a time when you had to navigate a political conversation during your time abroad.

There were many times where people would ask me about my political opinions on America, especially because I study politics and also it was during the election. I would try my best to be respectful during the conversation and answer any questions they did have; however, I would try to divert the conversation when I would start to get uncomfortable or felt that I did not want to answer the questions that were deeply personal.

please select any of the following that apply to you, and that you would be willing to share about your CYA experience with other students:

LGBTQIA+ student, Mental health

Briefly describe a cultural experience you had that was significant to you in any way.

Getting to visit Istanbul, which was so culturally different from any other place I had ever visited and getting to experience a whole new culture from anything I was ever used to.
