Based on my experience with CYA, studying abroad teaches you so much about the similarities and differences between people across the world, as well how to decenter yourself as an American. It teaches to be more understanding, compassionate, and humble. And taught me to open up to new cultures, outside of those in my everyday community.
What advice do you have for prospective students who are interested in or planning to study abroad with CYA?
I advise everyone to rely less on their CYA classmates and focus on exploring the city and making Greek friends. It's very easy to stay in your comfort zones, in your neighborhoods, and with Americans, however, no one knows Greece like the Greeks and it's so beneficial to learn more about the culture and inner parts of the city from natives.
