Dr Elias Avramidis is an Associate Professor at the Department of Special Education of the University of Thessaly and has extensive experience in disability related projects and particular interests in the use of appropriate teaching strategies for the inclusion for all students including those with learning disabilities.

Prior to assuming his current post in Greece, he held various posts in Higher Education institutions in the UK including the University of Bath (2001-2003), the University of York (2003-2007), and the University of Exeter (2008-2010). His current research mainly focuses on examining the theory and practice of inclusive education and the barriers to its implementation.

Additionally, he has developed an interest in evaluation research such as school-based interventions designed to promote the social participation of students with special educational needs and disabilities in general education settings. All his studies have involved practitioners and policy-makers at all stages of the research process. His work has been widely disseminated in a range of national and international fora to inform policy-making and practice.
