Iris Fousteri
(she/her)
Iris Fousteri is a multidisciplinary artist and dance teacher, based in Athens, Greece. Her work varies from choreography and performance art to digital art, illustration, video dance, poetry and video poetry.
She graduated from the Greek National School of Dance and was a member of the Hellenic Dance Company from 2003-2010 with productions in Greece, Belgium, and France. She has taught Graham technique in the pre-professional and occasionally in the professional department of the Greek National School of Dance and in the Professional Dance School “Rallou Manou” where she choreographed the pieces “Breaking a Line” and “Kaleidoscope”. Since 2017, she teaches Graham technique in the Pre-professional & Professional Dance School of Athens Conservatoire.
As a performer, Iris has collaborated with dance companies, choreographers, directors, visual artists and composers including: Company 7, La Lalie Cie, Omada Kentro, Arthrosis Dance Co., Analysis Dance Co., Sofia Pintzou (Greece/Germany), Harris Mandafounis, Vassia Zorbali, Kostas Daflos, Anna Papathanasiou, Errikos Sidiropoulos and more.
Her work –both performative & visual- has been presented in various venues and festivals such as The Bebop Dance and Theater Festival (NY), Academia Romantica, Video Art Miden, Athens Digital Arts Festival, Athens Video Dance Project, Athens International Video Poetry Festival, Santorini Arts Factory (SAF), Akropoditi Dance Festival, as associate movement director & dramaturgy consultant at ONC – SGT Onassis Foundation, Fabrica Art Space, e.t.c. In 2022, her piece “(A)UTOPIA 2.2: (a) being in a woman’s body” won the audience prize of the “Handmade & Recycled Theater Festival” performance contest.
In June 2021, she travelled to CN D (Centre national de la danse, Pantin – Paris) as a resident artist, supported by SGT Onassis Foundation.
Occasionally, she works as an illustrator, writes poetry and creates art books.
