Dr Kalliopi Manola is Research Director at the National Centre for Scientific Research (NCSR) “Demokritos”, with expertise in cytogenetic and molecular investigation of genetic diseases and hematological malignancies. She has a BSc in Biology (1993) and PhD in cancer genetics from Medical School of Kapodistrian University of Athens (2003). She has been responsible for karyotypic and molecular cytogenetic investigation of bone marrow samples from patients with hematological malignancies and peripheral blood samples from people with genetic syndromes and infertility for more than 30 years.

She is a member of the European LeukemiaNet and the Representative Cytogeneticist of Greece in the European Working Group (EWOG- MDS/JMML/SAA) of Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia (JMML) and Severe Aplastic Anemia (SAA) in Childhood. Her educational activities include supervision of many PhD and post-doc students and postgraduate and undergraduate theses at NCSR “Demokritos” and teaching in the Post-Graduate Program “Applications of Biology in Medicine” of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. She has 54 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, 2 monographs (review articles) and 174 peer-reviewed presentations in international and national conferences.
