Iro Mathioudaki holds a B.A. and Ph.D. in Prehistoric Archaeology from the University of Athens. She is a field archaeologist and pottery specialist. From 2021 to 2022 she taught Minoan and Mycenaean archaeology as a lecturer at the University of Patras. From 2017 to 2020 she completed a post-doctoral research at the Université catholique de Louvain (F.R.S.-FNRS) and since then she has been an associate researcher of the AEGIS research group (INCAL) at the same university.

Iro Mathioudaki has studied material from several sites in mainland Greece, Crete and the Cyclades, e.g. Knossos, Juktas, Malia, Akrotiri Thera, Ayios Vasileios. Her research interests include the interpretation of ceramic evidence in its social and cultural context, chronology, production and consumption studies, and trade and communication networks in Aegean prehistory. She has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and book reviews and has participated in numerous conferences, workshops and scientific meetings.
