Through studying abroad I have been able to push myself personally, being in a new environment encourages you to try new things and experiences, I started eating food I've never wanted to try before, signed up for activities such as exploring new neighborhoods or even on my own, went on trips around town, and getting comfortable being lost. Being abroad for so long also meant becoming more intertwined with Athenian life such as going to get a haircut or signing up for the gym. Academically, I was exposed to classes and topics most American schools don't go too deep into such as the European Union or refugee crisis. Taking these classes in such a dynamic city meant I also got to attend events related to these classes such as the 50 years of Democracy in Greece event, where acclaimed politicians discussed. Professionally, CYA was able to connect me to ELIAMEP. a non-profit Greek institute that conducts policy-oriented research and training, and I have been an intern for them since May.

What advice do you have for prospective students who are interested in or planning to study abroad with CYA?
