Based on your experience with CYA, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester or summer abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?
It truly allowed me to focus on both my majors and gain critical knowledge and experience within them. I was able to actually see so many landmarks and archeological sites that I had read about prior. I also was able to take archeology classes which are not readily available at Brandeis giving me a chance to immerse myself in that subject. I really enjoy my archeology class and it might be something I want to pursue more after college now. It also allowed me to travel to Europe for the first time giving me a new perspective on the world. I was fascinated with the different lifestyle and cultures I saw while there.
What advice do you have for prospective students who are interested in or planning to study abroad with CYA?
They should have clear intentions of why they want to study abroad and why specifically Greece. There are some people who study abroad to get what they perceive as a 4 month vacation and that mind set is not beneficial to the experience. Its going to be a lot of hard work but if you are there for the right reasons it'll be extremely rewarding.
How was the political climate in Greece different from what are you used to? If applicable, describe a time when you had to navigate a political conversation during your time abroad.
I never had to navigate a political conversation with any local but the climate was different that what I was use to. There were a lot of riots and protests that were interesting to hear about. Greek Student participation in politics and these protests seemed extensive and was interesting to see as well.

Briefly describe a cultural experience you had that was significant to you in any way.
One cultural experience I had was seeing the top of the Acropolis for the first time and witnessing how many other people were up there to view it too. It was an overwhelming and amazing moment. I wasn't expecting so many people to be up there on a random Monday but there was and it felt like a shared experience.
