Studying abroad was a way for me to develop myself as a person and begin my journey as a global citizen. Not only did I find a new sense of liberation studying abroad, but I built new skills and acquired deeper, more focused knowledge in my area of study.
What advice do you have for prospective students who are interested in or planning to study abroad with CYA?
I think one thing had I known at the time was preparing more for shopping. I find that Greece doesn't really like to use certain cards for transactions which has made buying a little difficult. Had I known I would have come with more hard cash. I manage my spending pretty carefully, so I've been able to live off $120 per month for food while abroad. Also, I would warn students about food and how the cafeteria works so that they know to prep for this. Finally, maybe bring some of your favorite foods with you. I wish I brought some old El Paso taco kits with me because I can't find them anywhere and tacos are my favorite thing to cook and eat.
please select any of the following that apply to you, and that you would be willing to share about your CYA experience with other students:
Finances while abroad, Mental health while abroad
