Based on your experience with CYA, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester or summer abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?
I think that study abroad is a chance to get away from the pressures of home institutions and learn more about subjects that you aren't able to take in the United States (such as classics, archaeology, and religion). Since studying abroad, I've learned more about being independent and navigating new environments both in Greece and while traveling. I've also been able to make friends from across the US that I wouldn't have otherwise met!
What advice do you have for prospective students who are interested in or planning to study abroad with CYA?
I would recommend going in with an open mind and being prepared for culture shock within the program as well! I would also say to take advantage of less well-known travel destinations since Greece is close to the Balkans and close to the middle east.
