Spending a semester abroad with CYA offers so many benefits. Personally, it pushes you out of your comfort zone and helps you become more independent. I feel so much like a local now. Academically, learning in Greece makes classroom concepts feel real because you can connect them directly to the places and culture around you. Professionally, my experience was especially meaningful because I completed the media lab internship offered through CYA. It gave me hands-on experience in digital media and strengthened skills like communication and working in a professional setting. Studying abroad has really helped me grow in ways beyond the classroom and shaped how I approach new challenges. I would recommend this experience to everyone.
What advice do you have for prospective students who are interested in or planning to study abroad with CYA?
For students thinking about studying abroad with CYA, my biggest advice is to dive in and take advantage of every opportunity. Explore beyond the classroom, try new activities, and don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Stay organized with travel and assignments so you can enjoy the experience without stress. On a less serious note, definitely pack sweaters! I was convinced it would be beach weather the whole time, but I’ve already bought three sweaters here.
Please select any of the following that apply to you, and that you would be willing to share about your CYA experience with other students:

Briefly describe a cultural experience you had that was significant to you in any way.
One cultural experience that really stuck with me was when we all did a Greek dancing lesson together. It was so much fun trying to learn the steps and keep up with the rhythm, and we were all laughing and helping each other along the way. Doing it as a group made it even more memorable and showed me how something as simple as dance can bring people together.
Favorite food in Greece?
My favorite greek food is a gyro. It is very basic I am aware, but it is literally the best thing I have ever had in my entire life.
What extracurricular activities were you involved with in Greece? Â
I was in the media lab internship.
