Nikos Litinas earned his BA and MA in Classics from the University of Crete before completing his PhD at University College London, where his doctoral research focused on unpublished papyri from Oxyrhynchos. His academic interests include Greek and Latin papyrology, epigraphy, classical philology, material culture, ancient Greek novels, mythology, Hellenistic and Imperial Greek prose, ancient Greek epigrams, and the linguistic development of Greek, with particular emphasis on Koine.
He has published several monographs and articles in international journals, and he serves as co-editor of Eulimene, an international journal dedicated to classical archaeology, numismatics, epigraphy, and papyrology. His research has been enriched by fieldwork, including excavations in Egypt, and international collaborations such as cataloguing papyri at the University of Michigan. He has also conducted extensive studies on inscribed ostraca and cave inscriptions in Crete.
Dr. Litinas has taught Classics in the Department of Philology at the University of Crete since 1996.
