Being abroad with CYA introduced me to students from different universities. It expanded my network and introduced me to future graduate schools. I'm a Florida girl born and raised. I made the closest connection with a friend in Michigan, and will be visiting for my academic interest. I would have never considered the University of Michigan if it wasn't for my classmate!

What advice do you have for prospective students who are interested in or planning to study abroad with CYA?

Talk with locals! They have the best source of information. Whether that be a restaurant or an excursion, their knowledge is top tier. The locals everywhere have been so friendly. I'm a more shy and reserved person, so initially I was nervous to ask for their advice. Don't be nervous or anxious. They even helped me carry my suitcase up long stairs without me asking!

How was the political climate in Greece different from what you are used to? If applicable, describe a time when you had to navigate a political conversation during your time abroad.

I felt like Greece was more liberal leaning, but that was just the political graffiti I was noticing in Athens. This was the only place I noticed with extreme politics. I never struggled navigating a political conversation, but that is because I am more liberal myself. I agreed with their beliefs for the most part. Their biggest political discussion was the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Please select any of the following that apply to you, and that you would be willing to share about your CYA experience with other students:

Accessibility, First-generation student, First-time international traveler, Greece-based traveler, Mental health, Post-graduate networking, Religion, Student of color, Delta Nu Zeta service organization

Briefly describe a cultural experience you had that was significant to you in any way.

A local helped me carry my luggage up the stairs and his kindness was appreciated.
