Spending your summer (or semester) abroad has so many benefits, including immersing yourself in the culture of another country. Based on my experience in a summer course in Greece, I was able to immerse myself in the culture and learn so much. There is so much history in the city of Athens and all over Greece. The class incorporated many days where we visited historical sites, which deepened my understanding and academic development. Additionally, my experience abroad has contributed to my personal and professional development due to the immersion in the culture. Living in an apartment in the middle of Greece helped to show me what life is like. We got to see many locals and visit local shops and cafes. Everyone we talked to was very nice and helped contribute to our knowledge and personal growth. Overall, studying abroad in Greece has been one of the best experiences of my life, and I hope to share that with others.

What advice do you have for prospective students who are interested in or planning to study abroad with CYA?

I would tell anyone interested in studying abroad with CYA to go into it with an open mind and get ready for one of the best experiences of their lives. You are able to immerse yourself into the culture of Greece even if you are just going for a few weeks in the summer. There is so much to do in Athens and so many places in Greece to visit. Athens and Greece have so much to offer, and prospective students should be very excited! I loved every second that I spent in Greece during my CYA class.

Before I started studying abroad, I wish I had known how to ask the CYA faculty and staff more questions. CYA was so supportive in helping students get acclimated with the Greek culture. They ran outings and were always there for any questions or advice that students wanted. I think it is very important for students planning on studying abroad to ask the CYA faculty and staff questions and for recommendations. They truly helped make my summer experience.
