Immersing yourself in a new culture, meeting new people, trying new things (pottery classes, yoga, marble carving), traveling around Greece and abroad. Studying abroad has contributed to my overall development by allowing me to experience new things, broaden my horizons, and to become adaptable to my surroundings.
What advice do you have for prospective students who are interested in or planning to study abroad with CYA?
Come prepared to make the most of it. It is a lot of time and energy, but it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life! Say yes to new things! Go to dinners with new people, talk to the people in your classes, and experience life here in Athens. It is easy to enjoy.
Please select any of the following identities/experiences/backgrounds/perspectives you would be comfortable sharing about with prospective CYAers:
Classical Studies major, Mental health.
Briefly describe a cultural experience you had that was significant to you in any way.
Going into the same bakery multiple times a week and getting to know the owner while trying new Greek pastries!
What is your favorite Greek food?
Hard to choose just one! I love bugatsa, and gyros of course!
What extracurricular activities were you involved with in Greece?
Marble carving, did pottery classes at workshops here, attended weekly yoga sessions with Jojo, frequent walks around the city/exploring Athens.
