Based on your experience with CYA, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester or summer abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?

Some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad include the countless new people, places, and experiences. CYA, unlike other study abroad programs, offers the opportunity to attend classes with students from universities all over the United States while living in Pangrati, surrounded by local Greeks. Additionally, through CYA's experiential learning philosophy, students are able to travel to many destinations ranging from classroom field trips to Rafina or program-organized excursions to Thessaloniki. Finally, enveloped in the Greek culture, encountering new circumstances on a daily, students acquire many exciting experiences which foster a worldly and global perspective.

What advice do you have for prospective students who are interested in or planning to study abroad with CYA?

My advice for students interested in studying abroad with CYA is that they should take every opportunity presented to them. As my semester comes to a close, I am sad that I didn't capitalize on every event - everything goes by so fast. Throughout the semester, CYA offers a marble carving class, a cooking class, and various other optional field trips/excursions. Also, read all CYA emails but especially the ones from Angela - as she offers great recommendations for Greek Holidays, destinations, and so much more!!
