I benefited in many ways from spending my semester in Athens. It opened my eyes to new experiences, cultures, and possibilities. I grew both academically and personally, creating strong connections with professors and classmates. Discussing Greek culture while experiencing it day to day was helpful in my process of settling in. I treasure my time in Athens and will always cherish the knowledge I gained.
What advice do you have for prospective students who are interested in or planning to study abroad with CYA?
My advice for students who are going abroad with CYA is to not rush your time. I mean taking it slow when you first arrive, living in a completely new country can be overwhelming so making sure you take time for yourself is important too. Your semester will fly by, having weekends both in and outside of Athens was important to me, this way I could get to know Athens along with make use of my proximity to other places like, cities and Islands.
Please select any of the following that apply to you, and that you would be willing to share about your CYA experience with other students:
First-time international traveler, Greece-based traveler, LGBTQIA+ student, Mental health
Favorite food in Greece?
Spanakopita!
Favorite class you took at CYA?
Gender and Sexuality Anthropology course!
What extracurricular activities were you involved with in Greece?
During my time in Athens I participated in many of the wellness activities they provided us. Such as hiking, pottery, and a rage room activity.
